Correlating Assignments:Web Museum (Power Point)
Visit a relevant museum, analyze artifacts, and share using a Web 2.0 presentation tool.
Classroom Website:
I created a classroom website using Kompozer. The website includes an index (home), student, parent, teacher, school, and personal page.

Current Projects:Maintenance of Classroom Website
I will continue to edit and add to our classroom website. I am currently working on three web-based projects that will be incorporated into the curriculum: Kansas Animal Reports, Human Body WebQuest, and Exploring Shapes WebQuest. http://moodle.mv330.org:81/index.html PowerSchool
Mission Valley Elementary currently uses this web-based student information system that provides a collaborative environment for students, teachers, and parents. As a classroom teacher, I use this resource daily! GoogleDocs
Recently our school district changed our email server to Google. In doing so, this allows more capability to interact and communicate using GoogleDocs. Although I have only researched some uses for my 3rd grade classroom, it is my goal to get every student involved in email with epals and also collaborate on some projects this next school year. Weekly Reader
Weekly Readers have come alive this year by using digital versions complete with audio, video, text readers, and live links! We use these weekly. |
Goals for the Future:One of the greatest ways in which technology has made a difference in education is that centuries old documents and artifacts become not only accessible, but very real to students. Communicating relevant information and facilitating effective uses of technology will be a priority in my classroom.
An outstanding resource that I would like to delve deeper into is the Kansas Historical Society. Their website has numerous online resources that could be incorporated into the curriculum to enhance student learning. Our school has an excellent resource in our own backyard. It is the Farpoint Observatory. They are currently working through a grant with NASA on locating and identifying near Earth objects. I envision a web resource for kids and created by our own students that could excite, inform, and relate information coming out of Farpoint Observatory.
