2. Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments
Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the NETS-S.
Teachers:
a. design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity
b. develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable all students to pursue their individual curiosities and become active participants in setting their own educational goals, managing their own learning, and assessing their own progress.
c. customize and personalize digital learning activities to address students' diverse learning styles, working strategies, and abilities using digital tools and resources
d. provide students with multiple and varied formative and summative assessments aligned with content and technology standards and use resulting data to inform learning and teaching

These activities challenged me to "think outside the box" while getting to know commonly used programs like Power Point and Microsoft Works in fun and creative ways.

Current Projects:Dinosaur Reports (Power Point)
Using Power Point, I was able to introduce a concept, focus on vocabulary, and present a student project in a fun and exciting way.

In an effort to find a solution for evaluating a student with lower level reading skills, I used a flipchart in Active Studio.
Classroom Performance Systems: Clickers
This tool is an excellent method of giving students immediate feedback and assessing students in a fun and anonymous way. Currently, the system I use only records knowledge level quesions through multiple choice, but next year I will incorporate short answer.

Goals for the Future:Evaluation Tools
This is definitly an area that I would like to spend more time developing. In particular, I am interested in furthering my knowledge and resources of alternative methods of assessing students using technology. Many students struggle with reading skills while evaluating other concept skills in math, science, or social studies. I will be working on finding and creating resources using technology that will aid in evaluating what students know without being hindered by their lower reading skills. Web-Based Learning Having completed my entire masters program online, I can relate to the advantages and disadvantages of web-based learning. Because many of our students will be involved in this type of instruction in the future, I feel it is important begin to prepare them. Included in the curriculum for next year will be at least one web-based project. Our Kansas Animal Project will be available in both online and traditional formats.I am curious which will be used more and the students thoughts on each! |
